The Sweet Rose is quite neat very small downstairs but a lovely bedroom, unusual to have bath there and I was a bit concerned that my wife could navigate the stairs as she has Parkinson’s but she was absolutely fine. The dog loved the garden and meeting the other dogs in the neighbouring cottages. We really enjoyed the visit and would recommend the cottages and the Barton area.

Very cute + ideal for couples getaway, especially if you have a pet. I stayed here with my partner and my dog for few days enjoying south Devon’s seasides. Great place, would recommend.

Came to visit family. It was a lovely place to return to every time. Very Quiet, as good as seen online 10/10
Read the details in the folder provided by Martin and Kim, really is a God send especially if you have dogs.
Cockington for a walk with without dogs. Then lunch at the Drum Inn. Make sure you visit the craft shops and church. Go to Berry head for view.
The Garden Area is lovely. Nice to be able to let the hounds out first with a coffee in hand, I can imagine the summer having a glass or two in the sun.
Cosy Cottage, warm, and welcoming. Thank you, nice touches, wine, snacks and treats for the dogs.

We wanted to discover Devon and this is an ideal location to do that. Car Park a bit tights and clearer signage to the cottage needed. Don’t expect the Ritz as this is a really old cottage, but very quirky, quaint and functional. Cockington was lovely and quaint with thatched cottage and country walks. Paignton looks great for kids. Nice town centre. Brixham was our favourite. The stairs are tricky, the bath was great and the bed comfy. Martin was great. He met us when we got here and was full of banter. Bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Thanks for letting us stay and we will return at some point.

Quaint & Unique , just perfect: 3 day break, easy to find with local shops close by. Parking is tight so ensure you reverse park for ease of getting out of the carpark. Hosts are wonderful. The cottage is so cute for 2 people, plus our dog, everything you need. Oven works well and the welcome note and wine, treats for the dog was a lovely gesture. Pic shows spiral staircase, be prepared for the steepness. Great use of space. Bath is lovely to soak in after a day exploring the area. Loved our stay and we will be back.

We are so thankful we found your stunning home – what a little gem, already looking at dates to come back. We loved the relaxed atmosphere that left us super chilled; a short break away from the fast pace in London. Our dog also loved the garden and the lovely other guests. Loved the roll top bath with Sweet Rose giving everything we needed. Thatched Tavern for diner. Totnes for a cute village, stroll and cake. Becky Falls. And so many coves with crystal clear waters. Thank you.

Sweet Rose had everything we wanted, needed and more with a lovely, fully enclosed garden that was great for our 5 month old pup. A lovely, relaxing week. Not sure how it can be improved. We visited Babbacombe Downs, Steam Railway and River Cruise, Dartmouth, Totnes and Goodrington Beach to walk the dog. Eating out at The Buccaneer, Angels, The Drum Inn – thanks for the recommendations!

Excellent in every respect. We took over Sweet Rose and Threshing Barn for an extended family Christmas holiday after all the Covid stuff. Delightful cottages so tastefully restored combining an old-world charm with modern fittings in every room. Look out for the information folders provided that gave us extensive information on all the location has to offer! So many local attractions and local beaches to explore for older and younger generations. The cottages really are the jewel in the crown – such a wonderful place to spend a relaxing break at any time of the year

Looked fabulous for a cosy retreat for 2 to celebrate a 60th and was exactly what we wanted. Warm welcome, Excellent facilities. Fabulous bedroom and bath! Lovely soak with a glass of wine. So glad we found this place. We changed plans for 60th several times because of Covid and then last-minute Omicron. Plenty of places to walk in the area. Make us of the owners information packs – we did. The Thatched Tavern is open – well worth the walk. Had the best time!!! Such a fabulous and cosy place! Thank you

Fantastic week at Sweet Rose and the surrounding area to celebrate my retirement! Lovely weather even for November. Beautiful beaches and still water! Lovely dog walks along the front at Babbacombe. Cream tea in Angels. Steam Railway and Ferry to Dartmouth. Thank you so much for a wonderful, relaxing week and the ‘welcome pack’ after a long drive. It was brilliant having the garden for our greyhound who loved a run.

Lots of great information in the brown folders; especially if you bring a dog. The Buccaneer, Mirch Masala. Oddicombe beach. Anstey’s Cove, to name a few places. The location is great for visiting nearby attractions, with a bus stop only a 5 min walk away. If you want to park your car up during your stay, parking is available on site and the 31 bus runs regularly to Torquay harbour. There you can catch onward connections. The cottage is comfortable with a lovely garden area. Martin and Kim are great hosts, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A lovely welcome pack is provided and the cottage contains everything you will need for your stay.

Sweet Rose Cottage was a little 'chocolate box' piece of heaven. Everything you could possibly need was in the cottage, Martin and Kim have thought of everything. To welcome us, there was tea, coffee and milk and some gorgeous choc chip shortcake biscuits, not to mention Prosecco! There was washing up liquid, cloth, sponge and T. Towel in the kitchen and sumptuous white towels and hotel quality bedding (and a VERY comfortable bed) in the beautiful bedroom upstairs, topped off by a deep free standing bath - all made for a perfect and very romantic setting. We were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the cottage garden as well. It is a perfect location either for walking or if you want to travel a little further afield and don't want to use the car, the bus stop is literally a stone's throw from your front door and we found the buses were very reliable. Martin and Kim (and previous guests) have provided a wealth of information contained within 3 folders. So you'll never be stuck for ideas on places to visit (rain or shine) or recommended eateries, whether they be eat in, takeaway or delivery. We had fish and chips from Paul, just down the road - very tasty!! We managed to get a last minute booking at Angels in Babbacombe for afternoon tea, which was lovely! We would recommend that you pre-book if there are particular restaurants you want to eat at, as many are fully booked due to restricted numbers etc because of Covid, although this may change after 19 July. There are also details of numerous walks straight from the cottage and further afield, all put together by Martin and Kim. We asked Martin if we could park our car whilst we did some exploring on our day of arrival and until we could check in, but Martin went one step further and as circumstances allowed, he was able to let us into the cottage earlier, which was fantastic as we could unpack, freshen up and make a day of it!

We had the "Honeysuckle" 2 bed cottage. We found it to be an excellent base for exploring the area. The 2 bedrooms are almost the same size. The beds are comfortable and the shower is excellent. Everything we needed was there, the visitors' file was particularly helpful in planning our days. There's a Co-op and Tesco just 100m away, and and excellent bakery and chip shop and pub. The shared garden was a decent outdoor space to eat. Apart from one minor blip, the cottages are outstandingly managed, with prompt and thorough communication. I was happy with the price paid.

One of the most immaculate and well equipped properties we have stayed in with Air B and B .
Beautifully and functionally presented , and editions like coffee pod expresso machine were a welcome addition . Best nights sleep in the enormous and comfortable beds .
Though the cottage door opens into the pathway at the side of the quite rd it was absolutely silent !And had absolutely no problem parking out side the property .
Gorgeous village full of amenities and fantastic places to eat and drink and one of the best local coffee shops just yards away open at 9am !
Highly recommend this well positioned and comfortable home .

We had a lovely little stay over new year with our 2 young children and 2 dogs. The house was really cosy and relaxing, just what we wanted.
We loved the little welcome gifts provided as well.
We found the folder with local information really useful. There were lots of walks clearly described which unfortunately we didn’t get to do due to the weather during our stay. All local beaches listed, local pubs, restaurants and takeaways and other local attractions. Plenty to do to suit everyone.

Thank you!! Although local I loved staying in your cottage. It is perfect! The garden is a bonus but due to the weather didn’t get to enjoy it. Will certainly be recommending your amazing cottages.
A beautiful place in between house moves and needed a stop gap. Website really appealed to me and it’s a great location. So warm and cosy with a wonderful king-size bed and bedding, loved settling into bed. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. Loved that it was so dog friendly and dog accommodation.
I am local but certainly give Paul Plaice chips ago- best chips ever. Great restaurants in town. The walked from Oddicombe to Babbacombe beach café at the top by the railway is good.

Just what the doctor ordered! We have recently returned from a relaxing peaceful stay at Pilgrim’s rest residing in Honeysuckle cottage. Martin was a brilliant host, very supportive to our family before we travelled, accommodating our extra requests to bring an extra guest and our dog Elsie. Any minor issue such as WiFi problems or requests for an iron were dealt with immediately..The set up of the three cottages and communal areas worked perfectly for us, we were blessed with lovely residents in the other properties so it was lovely to share a run down of our respective day’s adventures over a brew or a gin and tonic. The gardens are a real sun trap and a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the evening sunshine. The cottage itself is welcoming and comfy, and we were kindly gifted a welcome pack on arrival. Gorgeous rooms with exposed beams and very comfy beds. It is ideally placed for sightseeing. Local shops and takeaways are within walking distance. Can’t recommend the spot highly enough. Martin is a brilliant host with bags of enthusiasm and lots of local knowledge. Would love to return one day.

Beautiful, well-equipped barn exactly as described. Comfortable beds with great linen and the softest most luxurious towels. Plenty of space, not too much clutter, great bathrooms and excellent house-keeping. Very comprehensive guest information and a complimentary bottle of wine. Thank you. A perfect home-from-home for our family to get together. Thoroughly recommended.

A brilliant cottage, friendly people and nice and cosy stay
We wanted to relax as we live in the hustle and bustle of a hectic life in chaotic London. This was a perfect retreat, lovely and cosy. We recommend visiting Babbacombe beach and harbour.
Many thanks for your quick response in term of communication, we love it here and thanks for the biscuits. 😊

We were visiting our son in Shaldon. The Barn was an EXCELLENT base for our pre-Christmas family reunion. We really enjoyed the coastal walk at Maidencombe with the coffee shop above the beach. Perfect winter weather, family meals and lots of laughs. Martin offers an excellent base, well equipped with high standards. We really apricated the welcome pack, the property is one of the cleanest holiday lets we have stayed in.

All the rooms were made up perfectly and the beds very comfy! Perfect location for our holiday in Torquay and very reasonable for time of year and quality of Threshing Barn (6*).

We wanted a special holiday venue for my daughter’s 40th and found it at Threshing Barn – simply a fantastic, beautiful accommodation where we could have fun as a family, being together, whilst being so near to so many great beaches. Meadfoot Bay was great for pets, surfing and sandy beach. Hole in the Wall in Torquay was a great diner out. Close to local shops, takeaways and a great bakery. Loved the personalized message to our dog, Max. Such comfy bedrooms and beds. So family and dog friendly. Thank you.

Jenkins 80th Birthday Celebration
We have just had a lovely stay in Threshing Barn for my father’s special 80th birthday. Your hospitality is amazing; we were amazed at the stock left for us for a short stay with Prosecco and Chocolates! The barn was very neat and clean on arrival. The bedrooms, linen in bathroom, all seemed new. Top marks for family and dog friendly.

We came to a lovely cottage where we celebrated one of our grandchildren’s 13th birthdays. We had a wonderful experience. Very spacious and good for dogs with gates around to keep them safe. Extremely clean and tidy. Fun activities for everyone to do – Becky Falls is great if you’re adventurous. House of Marbles – excellent. If you fancy a lazy night in then order a takeaway from the Devon Dumpling – the food is absolutely amazing. We will 100% be coming here again!

Great property for a family get together. We had a warm welcome from the owner Martin, and we were all delighted with the size and comfort of the property. There was ample space in all the bedrooms, and enough bathrooms/shower rooms for us all. There is a safe garden for the children to play in. The spiral staircase could be challenging, but we all got used to it. I thoroughly recommend this property.

The Old Threshing Barn is great accommodation for up to 8 people. IT is very comfortable and there is lots of room to spread out in the lounge, dining room and kitchen areas and 3 bathrooms, so less of a wait to get out in the morning. The kitchen is very well equiped for catering for a larger gathering with lots of large saucepans, serving dishes, etc. There is also WiFi and a large Smart TV with the possibility of logging in to your netflix, iPlayer, etc. There are some great local shops very close (a Tesco Express, a CoOp, a bakers and a chemist). A bigger ASDA and a big Sainsburys are a short car ride away. There is a bus that goes into Torquay or a short car ride. There are many things to do and see in the surrounding area. Just be aware that the spiral staircase takes a little getting used to and that there is a short walk from the car park. Martin and Kim and family were very welcoming and very helpful. In particular, they kindly did some research for us and found lots of restuarants and cafes providing gluten free food.

This was the first family trip since the pandemic and its been brilliant. We really have loved every minute. Beautiful place and fantastic location. So comfortable and genuinely like a home away from home. There’s so much to do, so plan your days in advance so you can see as much as possible! Kents Cavern. Beaches like Anstey’s Cove, Oddicombe/Babbacombe, Maidencombe & Blackpool Sands. Cappello’s Italian Restaurant. Thanks for all the information. We will 100% be back.

Fabulous Break! First trip away post-Covid with 3 generations of the family - we were greeted at the Threshing Barn by Martin and quickly settled in! The Barn is clean and spacious and very well equipped. We enjoyed lazy evenings in the Old Orchard with a G&T and ventured out during the day. All in all, super easy from end to end and a really lovely week had by all. Thank you Martin & Kim! Xxx

Loved the quiet spot, felt a little like pilgrims far from home and amongst the happy / emotional moments at our son’s wedding found rest and relaxation her! Youngest in the family loved the bunks and started sleeping on the bottom for the first time! The toy box for him was so kind. All the kids loved the garden (did a running marathon – won Gold). God bless you and the family. Thank you for the little, personal touches, getting all our names right& on each bit of correspondence. Made it really special.

Returning to Devon which is my husband’s home county, Threshing Barn offered accommodation for the whole family, spacious and welcoming. Watching our grandchildren playing in the garden was so special, with the enclosed area safe for them and our dogs too. Babbacombe with its Railway, Maidencombe with their Thatched Tavern, The Ness beach along in Shaldon with the little foot ferry over to Teignmouth were excellent recommendations. Thank you for your warm welcome and relaxed approach. We have really enjoyed our stay in the barn.

We found Pilgrims Rest on the internet and having stayed in local B&Bs we were looking for extra room that we definitely found! Threshing Barn was amazing; fantastic rooms, quality of bedding, stunning buildings, spotlessly clean with beautiful gardens, and so family and dog friendly. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Watching dad and daughter on’ jet set go’ was something really special. Oddicombe beach, No7 and Cary Arms, Jet Set Go for trills and Babbacombe – all lovely. We will be sure to visit again. Thank you.

With the kids growing up, we needed a break but couldn’t go abroad so headed for South Devon (1st time in years) – Threshing Barn was the perfect base for us. We have had the best time. The barn was exactly what we needed. Great barn. Great walking. Great restaurants. Chilling inn the barn late afternoon. Being with the kids and generally having fun having forgotten how much fun you can have in a UK holiday. Hope to see you again soon.

Threshing Barn provided us with precious family time together, making memories. 100% recommend Pilgrims Rest Cottages. Martin and Kim are extremely friendly and accommodating. Loved how much thought they’d put into making their cottages so homely and comfortable. Perfect – welcoming, cleanliness, family friendly, amenities, value for money, and location.

Great place and good location

Perfect week away, place was a home from home and the furniture is of good quality, comfy beds and linen. The weather was mostly dry so made the most of visiting local beaches and places of interest. Nice pubs a short drive away for good food. It was dog friendly and walks locally were handy. Definitely recommend the place.
